Why should I practice Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a practice, also known as “yogic sleep”, that guides you through a state of deep relaxation while remaining fully conscious; inviting you to explore the inner landscapes of your being with gentle awareness. This powerful technique not only helps reduce tension, anxiety, and depression, but allows you to tap into the vast reservoir of peace and tranquility that resides within you. It can also improve sleep quality, while enhancing focus, creativity, and overall well-being.

Should I avoid eating?

A small meal up to 2 hours before is ok. Generally Yoga Nidra is practiced on an empty stomach.

What can I expect during a Yoga Nidra practice?

You can expect to feel relaxed. You will want to focus on the speaker’s voice as much as possible to stay connected with the practice. If you fall asleep, that is ok! It means your body needs the rest. Throughout the practice different techniques integrate different parts of the brain. You may feel yourself becoming more relaxed or experiencing a dreamlike state. At other times you will be fully aware. There may be moments of silence of between 8-10 minutes.

What is a sankalpa?

A sankalpa is a heartfelt resolve. It is always stated in the positive. A heartfelt resolve is chosen by you and only you. The more you feel that this sankalpa is true the more likely it is to become true! Keep it simple and to the point.

How long does the session last?

The entire Yoga Nidra session will last about one hour.
